Tapping

TAPPING is a process aimed at creating threads inside the holes using the appropriate tool, the tap. The choice of the tap depends on the type of thread required, on the material to be machined and on the hole to be threaded (blind or pass-through). The rotation of the tap, with a cutting helix on its surface, when in contact with the hole cuts the internal surface, advancing autonomously based on the pitch of the chosen tap, thus generating the desired thread. At the end of the threading, by triggering the retrograde rotation motion, the tool can exit the hole.

Sir Meccanica’s machine tools, and/or some accessory kits, make this operation possible, thereby completing the range of processes.
